Okay so I showed you this week how we installed our new rustic wood fireplace mantel and the awesome little ampersand cutout sign project. Now I have the rest of that particular craft to go with it. It all started when I saw this on Pinterest, from the Lovely Cupboard.
I loved the snowflake art and it reminded me a of table I saw on a HGTV home show a million years ago. So, I thought I would make my own version. I got what I needed at an office store and a crafts store.
Merry and Bright Christmas Art!
Supplies:
2 Large Foam core boards
2 (240) packages of 1" silver foil envelope seals (you could get away with one if you use less)
1 multi sized self stick gems (in a clear color- these are optional)
1-2 sheets of silver/metallic paper
glue
This was so fast, easy and kid friendly. Etta had a lot of fun helping me. We loaded one edge/side of the canvas with silver foil stickers and then slowly let them fade out, (like a falling snow) I added some gems to change the size up a bit and make it even more blingy.
Next, I started off too lazy to go find my Silhouette in storage (I learned from this mistake, quickly). So I printed out the text "MERRY BRIGHT" to the proper size on some regular paper. Then I followed the steps below to transfer the text to my paper.
Okay, so there was only one major problem when I was done. The color of scrapbook paper I used was so light and reflective, that you couldn't see it very well. Which meant I needed to cut it out again. At this point, I wasn't going to go through the hand cutting process that I just finished… I started over with my silhouette machine and it only took about 2 minutes. I kid you not and that includes opening the box and setting up. (Insert head smack here- dope!)
I just glued the newly cut words onto the bottom of the foam core boards. and I was done! Easy and cute! The ampersand cutout sits in front of the two boards.
P.S. Since it is good deal day, I wanted to tell you about a SMART deal for backing up your computer files. I don't know about you but I keep almost all my pictures on my home computer, but if for any reason I lose my computer- fire, hacking, computer dies… I am happy to know that my pictures and all my business files are safely backed up on Carbonite.
For only $59 dollars a year and right now if you sign up you will get a $20 gift card to Amazon for signing up! Offer good through January 3rd!
